Our history

VOLAN is a very well known word in Hungary. The word exactly means steering wheel, but this is the collective noun of a lot of companies interested in different ways of transportation, logistics, etc. all around in Hungary, and Europe as well.

The story began in 1970 when the Vehicle Transport Trust was initiated as the strong development of road transportation and integration of low-traffic railroad lines ran.

On this occassion the trust called for tender relating the fantasy name and the logo of the company. Finally, the ’Volán’ name and the snaily logo was accepted and officially registered from the 22 different applications.

After this procedures the Volán Trust and the Volán Companies numbered 1 to 24 started to work in the same year.

From the early 1980’s the companies could trade independently with 80% of the development founds as the companies grown unbidden fast.

In 1983 a Board of Ministry order was born about further decentralization and modernism, founding economically separated, independent companies.governed by own councils.

In 1985, the companies assumed new brand-names keeping the Volán feature but refering their type and field of activity, county, and occurently their speciality.

In the beginning of 1990’s the activity of the companies was suffered from even more symptoms os economy slump so the cargo and other service companies became absolutely separated LTD’s, most of them later had been privatized.
In these times the already privately held Voláncom Ltd decided to invest in opportunity to manage the Volán Taxi service.

Today, the consortium has 59 member companies. These Volán companies supply different services like informatic, finances and bank services, audits, leasing, utility rental, insurance, pension handling, treasury, education, building industry, and TAXI SERVICE.

Shorter, the Budapest based VOLÁN TAXI can look back almost 50 years of experinence, started as one of the few pioneers in this profession. Samely as in the beginning, we provide the comfort of safety, punctual, responsible transportation in serve of all of our passengers needing us in past, present and future.

Or goal is to keep the trust of our clients, the computable and genuine past, breezily adapting the day to day faster and always changing world. Most of our colleagues and drivers have 10-20 years of experience in taxi industry, as they were the hungarian pioneers of private taxi industry.
